Product Spotlight

Our 1st product review was inspired today by my own family. We have been using several activity books this year to reinforce the topics being learned in history. I have been so impressed by these books!

Lauri Carlson, has done a fabulous job with this collection of activity books. Over the course of a year we have had the pleasure of working through 3 of them. Today's review was inspired by our latest endeavor with, "Classical Kids." She has taken such a vast topic as Ancient Greek and Roman history, and made it highly accessible for children. Every activity has a short and concise history lesson with it. While these lessons are simple they are thought provoking and help the student to further their interest in the activity.

Today we made, "Roman Bread in a Bag." The history lesson was very interesting and really helped us to develop an appreciation for the importance of bread in Roman life. All the lessons and activities are in black and white print. I imagine this was done to help in keeping the cost of printing down. It would be nice to have color picture examples available of the final products. However, maybe by printing the activities in black & white the child's imagination isn't limited to what they see on the paper. Each book has had unique activities within it and all that we have tried have been enjoyable.

The average book in her collection is around 185 pages in length. She really covers a lot of ground. I did see on Amazon that she has a book for camping. While my kids are veteran campers I think this would be an enjoyable book to give as a gift to someone new to the outdoors.

If you have an opportunity to grab one of her books you should! I love these books and plan to hang on to them for a long time. It's a book that is worth it's price tag!
